The Streets of Phoenix in Monochrome with the X-PRO1

Image
The following images are 'as-photographed' on the streets of Phoenix Arizona using FujiFilm's Monochrome Ye in-camera filter.  The lens is a Fujinon 27mm, f2.8.     The FujFilm X-Pro1 is a mirrorless interchangeable (X-Mount) lens digital camera of 'Rangefinder" design launched in March 2012. The camera has the first generation  X-Trans CMOS sensor (16-megapixels). The "X-Trans" CMOS sensor uses a different pattern of pixels in order to reduce moirĂ© without the need for an Anti-aliasing filter and also claim to produce better colour reproduction compared to the standard Bayer Array Sensors that reduce moirĂ© effect when shooting regular patterns, but with slightly reduced image resolution. Some photographers and camera enthusiasts call the X-Pro1's first generation X-Trans a "magic sensor" for the beautiful images it produces - especially monochrome.  Despite the camera's 10-year age which is a lifetime as technology advances, the X-Pr

Phoenix Arizona Architecture, Old and New - FujiFilm X-PRO1

Image
On today's street walk I focused on the architecture of an evolving city where old (non-historical) buildings are being torn-down and new apartments and commercial structures are rising.  The city's look and feel is evolving into the 21st century. I brought-along my FujiFilm X-PRO1 fitted with a Fujinon 27mm, f2.8 lens.  This camera is a cult classic with a 12mp XTRANS1 sensor.  Images where photographed in Monochrome Ye filter setting.

Barrio Viejo - Tucson

Image
Barrio Viejo means "old neighborhood" in Spanish.  Barrio Viejo located in Tucson Arizona is rich in Arizona history and culture of the Southwest. The 18th and 19th century adobe block homes provide an ideal opportunity for street photography emphasizing architecture, traditional Spanish color pallet, art and desert vegetation.  All photography presented here is 'as-photographed' using a FujiFilm XT1 mirrorless digital camera with a 16MP CMOS XTrans II senor and FujiFilm's in-camera film emulations.  I primarily took photographs with the camera fully manual mode including focus.  The lens was Fuji's kit 18-55mm.  Fuji film emulations used were Fuji's VELVIA, B&W and high contrast B&W.  I also changed aspect ratio for each photograph to suit the composition I wanted to achieve for the photograph.  Below: El Minuto Cafe Photo below: Buttressed adobe building next to the El Tiradito Wishing Shrine   Below: Photographed using Fujifilm's B&W
